Relevance of setting up a working group
- Recognizing the crucial role of the mining sector in the development of any country
- Account for priorities and objectives to be achieved and support needs in the implementation of the Government ' s strategic directions;
- Considering the underexploitation of national mineral resources;
- Considering the qualification needs of Malian human resources in the mining sector;
- Given the low impact of mining profits and dividends on the welfare of Malian people;
- Taking into account the opportunities offered by international cooperation in the field of economic development and mines;
- Taking into account Canada's experience and expertise in mining, environmental protection and sustainable development.
A working group in the mining sector has been established within the Canada-Mali Association Chamber of Commerce to contribute to and promote Mali's progress in this area and to achieve the objectives set out in Mali's national policy for the development of the mining and oil sector.
