Community Entrepreneurship Meeting African and Black in Northwestern Canada: Challenges, Issues, Opportunities for Canada and Africa




The Chamber of Commerce Canada Mali – Association, in partnership with the Council for Economic Development of the Northwest Territories (CEDNO) will organize the meeting on entrepreneurship of African and Black communities in northwestern Canada: Challenges, issues, opportunities for Canada and Africa as part of the Black Consortium Black Adivsory Hub (BAH) Program, Sunday, May 28, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. (TU-6), in presentation at Hotel Explorer, Yellowknife, and virtual via Zoom.
The meeting on entrepreneurship of African and Black communities in northwestern Canada, which will bring together key stakeholders, entrepreneurs and experts to discuss the challenges, issues and opportunities related to entrepreneurship of African and Black communities in this region of Canada, while exploring ways to strengthen economic partnerships between northwestern Canada, Africa and Mali.
Canada's northwestern region has many economic potential because of its abundant natural resources. However, African and black communities face specific challenges when it comes to creating and developing businesses. These challenges include lack of funding, language and cultural barriers.
During the meeting, stakeholders will highlight economic opportunities for entrepreneurs in the African and Black diaspora in northwestern Canada. They will present promising sectors such as natural resources, renewable energy, tourism, agriculture and information technology. Discussions were also held on possible partnerships between northwestern Canada, Africa and Mali to promote trade and mutually beneficial investment.
The profile of African and Black diaspora entrepreneurs in northwestern Canada will be highlighted. Concrete examples of successful entrepreneurs will be presented, highlighting their successes, achievements and challenges. Participants will discuss existing initiatives to support African and Black diaspora entrepreneurs in the region, such as mentoring programs, business advisory services and networking opportunities.
Participants will discuss future prospects and strategies for strengthening economic partnerships between northwestern Canada, Africa and Mali.
